Request for Country Reports

Dear ICA Members,

2014 ICA Country Reports by Monday, June 30, 2014

Country reports are one of the most important products ICA provides for its member countries. They offer immense value, provoking great discussions at ICA conferences and offering information and learning opportunities for our members. All of the respondents to our ICA member survey said the country reports were useful to them; 80% found the country report process to be effective as well.

They are unique and differentiate ICA from other international organizations. The collection of statistics, trends, insights and analysis in these reports, and the summary report we publish each year, are not available in one place anywhere else. They afford ICA members an invaluable perspective on the status of ICT in government and insights into common areas of national concern. This year's reports will be used to generate discussion during the ICA Conference October 27-30, compiled in the annual ICA Country Report Summary, and posted on the ICA website at www.ica-it.org.

Your reports do not have to be long or complex. They should include common statistics that are easily comparable across countries, but also highlight the success stories your government has to tell. They offer an opportunity to showcase the great work your country is doing, and to explore alternative solutions to our common problems.

In your 2014 country report, please provide the following information, and anything else that is important to you. For your government:

What were the major developments affecting ICT policy, strategic initiatives, eGovernment, transformational governance and performance over the past year?
What are the top ICT priorities? (e.g., cloud computing, cyber security, saving money, shared services, electronic service delivery?) Explain.
Highlight any innovative initiatives under development.
How much is the government spending in the current year on ICT? What percentage of the country's total government budget does this represent?
What is the trend of IT spending—rising, declining, or remaining flat? What is driving this trend? Is it projected to continue for the near future?
What trends are affecting the ICT workforce? What percentage of the national government employees work in ICT?
Also, please provide information relevant to the conference theme, which is "Smart Investments for Future Digital Government" this year.
Be sure to support your claims with evidence and provide links to supporting materials wherever possible. You may provide brief answers to these questions and attach a copy of the annual reports, articles, project descriptions, questionnaires or other reference material that support them.

Please send in your report as soon as possible, and not later than June 30. Those that are late may not be considered in the Summary Report or in plenary session.

Why are these country reports important?

These country reports are key input to an informed debate at the conference in Ottawa. We will highlight the most important features of your reports and discuss the emerging trends likely to affect our future policies and activities.
Summary Report on trends across ICA member countries. As in previous years, a summary of all the reports received will be published before the conference. The full individual reports will be made available through the Members Page to ICA Members only.
