Request for Country Reports

Dear ICA Members.

ICA Country Reports 2013: Replies by Friday, June 28, 2013

Country reports are an integral part of the ICA Annual Conference. They form the basis of great discussion and learning opportunities for our members. Delegates, on reporting back on the value of conference, repeatedly highlight the country report discussions and the summary report as being of immense added value to all members.

The ICA board recognizes the time commitment submitting a report represents for our national and deputy national representatives. In the past few years there has been concern about the reduced number of submissions. Some reports are submitted just before conference thereby not allowing enough time for them to be part of the country report summary.

At its winter meeting, the ICA board agreed to revamp the format of country report submissions to make it a less time consuming task.

For 2013, we ask that you:

  • Supply us with information on changes and developments within your country affecting policy, strategic initiatives, eGovernment, transformational governance and performance. Where appropriate a copy (or relevant extracts) of the annual report you submit to your own senior management, minister or government may be sent in lieu of a formal report to ICA.
  • Highlight any innovative initiatives in the works.
  • Supply us with information relevant to the conference theme or panel discussions.

The 47th ICA Conference will be hosted at the Tivoli Oriente Hotel, Lisbon, Portugal from Oct 1-3, 2013. The conference theme is Future Ready Government – Navigating the Changes.

Governments are facing an accelerating pace of change on all fronts, be it economic, social, technological, and environmental or others. With the emergent changes, it can no longer be "business as usual". Governments have to be flexible, adaptable, collaborative and creative in order to successfully navigate the waves of change and be ready for the future. In this conference, participants will discuss how governments around the world are harnessing advances in Information and Communications Technology to embrace the opportunities and challenges presented by the swiftly evolving landscape to be ready for the future.

A copy of the programme agenda is attached.

Please let us have your submission as soon as possible and not later than June 28, 2013. Reports received later than this will still be published as part of the 47thConference Proceedings, but may not be considered in the Summary Report or in plenary. Country reports should be emailed to the ICA Secretariat This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Why are these country reports important?

  • An informed debate at the conference in Lisbon, Portugal- Oct 1-3, 2013. These country reports are the key input into a successful interactive conference, as they form the basis of the insight to be presented and discussed in three (3) plenary sessions during conference. Here we will highlight the most important features of your reports and discuss the emerging trends likely to affect our future policies and activities.
  • Insight Report on trends across ICA member countries. As in previous years, a summary report will highlight the main themes collected from the country reports. This summary will be published in advance of the conference. The full individual Country Reports will be made available through the Members Page to ICA Members only. This reduces the possibility of sensitive information being made available to a wider audience.
  • Web Marketing - Public Country Summaries - Only the Country Report Summary will be published on ICA’s public Web Page. This summary and the Country Reports will also be provided to all National representatives in October to support more meaningful discussions at our Conference.

Please remember:

  • Other countries can learn from you. Other ICA members repeatedly stress to us the value they place on the Country Reports. Please provide us with the information that you think other countries will benefit from. Include references to sources where more information can be obtained. The country reports will only be as good as your contribution.
  • Share your learning. The minimum we need are the main points and the reference material we can quote. To minimize your work you may include annual reports, articles, project descriptions, questionnaires from international organisations, or the like (with the permission of the relevant authorities).
  • Support your claims with evidence. Policy decisions require evidence. If you are aware of studies of relevance to the discussed themes, please let us know and provide references where possible.

Please contact the ICA Secretariat ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) if you have any further comments or questions.

We look forward to your early contributions.

Kind regards,
Shimon
