ICA Country Reports 2012: Replies by 10 August 2012
On behalf of ICA Chair Peter Bruce, Canada, I am sending this request for ICA Country Reports 2012, which will be presented at the 46th ICA Conference in Jerusalem, Israel 22-25 October. The conference theme is Connected Society – Bridging the Gap.
What’s new?
- Questionnaire – Section 1, Page 3. This year we ask three (3) new questions that are particularly relevant to the theme of this year’s Conference. Your responses will be highlighted in plenary session at the conference.
- Time constraints – We are aware of the limited time our national representatives can commit to creating country reports, therefore if you are able to share the Annual Report(s) prepared for your Minister’s or Parliaments, we will accept it your response in lieu of completing Sections 2-5 on Pages 4 and 5.
- Website – Upon receipt of your country report, it will immediately be posted on the member’s side of the ICA website rather than being uploaded post conference.
Please let us have your submission as soon as possible and not later than Friday 10 August 2011. Reports received later than this will still be published as part of the 45th Conference Proceedings, but may not be considered in the Summary Report or in plenary. The purpose of these ICA country reports is to collect information of relevance to decision-makers, encourage learning among ICA members, and to stimulate debate between members. Delegates, on reporting back on the value of conference, repeatedly highlight your responses as being of immense added value to all members.
Why do these country reports matter?
- An informed debate at the conference in Jerusalem from 22-25 October - These country reports are the key input into a successful interactive conference, as they form the basis of the insight to be presented and discussed in three (3) plenary sessions during conference. Here we will highlight the most important features of your reports and discuss the emerging trends likely to affect our future policies and activities.
- Insight Report on trends across ICA member countries. As in previous years, a summary report will highlight the main themes collected from the country reports. This summary will be published in advance of the conference. The full individual Country Reports will be made available through the Members Page to ICA Members only. This reduces the possibility of sensitive information being made available to a wider audience.
- Web Marketing - Public Country Summaries - Only the Country Report Summary will be published on ICA’s public Web Page. This summary and the Country Reports will also be provided to all National representatives in October to support more meaningful discussions at our Conference.
Please remember:
- Other countries can learn from you. Other ICA members repeatedly stress to us the value they place on the Country Reports. Please provide us with the information that you think other countries will benefit from. Include references to sources where more information can be obtained. The country reports will only be as good as your contribution.
- Share your learning. The minimum we need are the main points and the reference material we can quote. To minimize your work you may include annual reports, articles, project descriptions, questionnaires from international organisations, or the like (with the permission of the relevant authorities).
- Support your claims with evidence. Policy decisions require evidence. If you are aware of studies of relevance to the discussed themes, please let us know and provide references where possible.
