With the International Council for Information Technology in Government Administration (ICA) Golden Anniversary event just around the corner, an important meeting took place at the home of the European Commission. European Commissioner Andrus Ansip met with ICA’s Programme Committee Chair, Frank Leyman, on the occasion of our Organization’s 50th anniversary conference.
During the meeting which took place at the Berlaymont building in Brussels, the Vice-President for Europe’s Digital Single Market, emphasized the importance that organizations such as ICA carry in building a solid digital strategy to facilitate today’s and tomorrow’s citizen needs.
Commissioner Ansip, pointed out that knowledge sharing among CIOs as well as the networking that is stretched beyond EU’s borders can add insight to not only the foundation for creating a connected digital single market and making Europe a world leader in information and communication technology but also to the digital strategies of governments across the globe.
The 50th ICA Conference will take place in Medellín, Colombia during the 13th-16th of November. This year’s event is themed “Digital Government: Designing for the citizen experience” and aims at tailoring digital government to improve citizen experience by making digital services accessible, enticing, engaging, trustworthy and transparent. The large number of CIOs gathered from governments around the world will look at how strategy, policy, and governance can enable Digital Government; but will also look at how yesterday’s failures can open the gates to new solutions.
