BELINKO, Mr. Joshua Executive Director at TraceCanada, Canada Monday, September 7th 13:15-15:00 | Session III: GOVERNMENT ANALYTICS FROM BIG DATA | Speaker 1 Mr. Joshua Belinko is the Executive Director of TraceCanada; Canada's national, not-for-profit organization tasked with building and operating a system for managing agricultural traceability information in Canada. In this role, Mr. Belinko assembled and is leading the team responsible the information system which will track and report on the identification, premises and movement of livestock in Canada in support of animal health, food safety, emergency management and market access. He is also responsible for identifying strategic partnerships with stakeholders across the agriculture sector in order to further advance the traceability of agricultural commodities in Canada, including initiatives focused on supply chain optimization and transparency, and location analytics. Mr. Belinko has a keen interest in business intelligence and data analytics, and is working with partners to identify future opportunities to use the Internet of Things (IoT) as a conduit for information collection in order to enhance emergency management and disease control activities involving livestock populations. Prior to TraceCanada, Mr. Belinko worked for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, where he led the development of new traceability legislation that was passed unanimously by the Canadian Parliament through the _Safe Food for Canadians Act_. He was also responsible for establishing information sharing agreements between the federal government and Canadian provinces, he managed the implementation and operations of the GTEC Award-winning Traceability National Information Portal, and was the co-founder and past chair of the CFIA Synapse Network for leadership and career development. Mr. Belinko's projects have been recognized by the GTEC Distinction Awards on three separate occasions; most recently the 2013 winner for Excellence in Collaboration, and previously the winner for Internal Business Operations and a finalist for Service Delivery to Canadians.
